Presentation of the Gilles Brisson Estate

The Gilles Brisson estate is a family-owned property located in Châteaubernard, just 3 kilometers from the town of Cognac. For four generations, the Brisson family has cultivated its vineyards and produced cognacs exclusively from its vineyard located 100% in Grande Champagne, the most prestigious cru of the Cognac appellation. This origin allows the house’s cognacs to be labeled Grande Champagne – 1er Cru de Cognac.

Since 1989, Cyril Brisson has managed the estate and continues the expertise passed down from his father, with particular attention given to the distillation and aging of the eaux-de-vie. The new generation, represented by Loan and Alexis Brisson, is already continuing this family tradition.

The estate now covers 65 hectares, including 32 hectares of vineyards planted with Ugni Blanc, the emblematic grape variety of Cognac. The Brisson family was also one of the first Cognac producers to obtain the HVE Level 3 (High Environmental Value) certification, demonstrating environmentally responsible viticulture.

The grapes are harvested in mid-October and then distilled throughout the winter in traditional Charentais copper pot stills. After distillation, only the heart of the distillate is kept for the production of the cognacs, ensuring finesse and aromatic purity.

Presentation of Cognac Brisson XO

The Cognac Brisson XO is a tasting cognac produced exclusively from eaux-de-vie originating from the estate’s vineyards in Grande Champagne. Aged for a long period in oak casks in the estate’s cellars, this blend benefits from particularly extended aging.

While the appellation regulations require a minimum of 10 years for the XO category, Cognac Brisson XO is aged between 18 and 22 years. This extended aging develops remarkable aromatic complexity, a silky texture, and exceptional depth.

This cognac perfectly expresses the finesse and elegance characteristic of Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, known for their aging potential and great aromatic richness.
