A Family Estate with Centuries-Old Roots

The Bertrand house is a family-owned cognac business established in 1731, carrying forward nearly three centuries of artisanal tradition deeply rooted in Petite Fine Champagne, one of the most prestigious crus of the AOC Cognac.

The famous Bel’Air Mill, the last remaining mill in Réaux, now serves as a symbol of the estate and appears on the labels, reflecting the history, heritage, and quality of Bertrand cognacs, passed down from generation to generation with passion and expertise.

An Exceptional Terroir in Petite Fine Champagne

The family vineyard covers nearly 90 hectares exclusively in Petite Fine Champagne, a chalky micro-terroir renowned for producing powerful, elegant eaux-de-vie with great aging potential.

Spread across several plots around Laage, Chez Bruneteau, and Les Brissons, the vines benefit from varied exposures and rich soils, fostering remarkable aromatic complexity that reflects the geological diversity of the estate.

Traditional Distillation & Aging

Distillation is carried out using the traditional method on lees in copper Charentais stills, ensuring the purest aromatic expression of the distilled wine.

Once distilled, the eaux-de-vie are aged extensively in French oak barrels, primarily from Limousin, where they develop richness, structure, and aromatic depth. The estate's different cellars allow for varied aging tailored to each type of eau-de-vie.

An Authentic & Refined Range

The house offers a complete range of Petite Champagne cognacs, from the youngest categories (VS, VSOP, Napoléon) to more complex expressions like XO and limited editions such as Héritage No. 2, showcasing the estate’s aging potential.

Alongside cognacs, the estate also produces Pineau des Charentes, in white, rosé, and old varieties, reflecting the lively and fruity expression of the grapes and terroir.
