Presentation of the domain:
The house of cognac of Bache-Gabrielsen was established by Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen de Holmestrand in 1905.
Several generations later the company is always managed by the family Bache-Gabrielse, by the great-grandson of Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen.
He recently resumed the management to the everyday life of his father, Christian Bache-Gabrielsen.
Presentation of the vintage:
Bache-Gabrielsen is marking a milestone as it exclusively debuts a first-of-its kind expression to the United States: American Oak – the first cognac ever to be aged in American oak barrels.
Master Blender Jean-Philippe Bergier worked closely with the company’s cooperage partner to determine the best oak for this particular cognac. The liquid spends a minimum of six months aging in brand new Tennessee oak barrels, which gives the final product distinct character, with aromas of ripe apricot, pear and vanilla and lingering flavors of coconut, caramel and chocolate.
“We’ve spent over a century perfecting our taste and expanding our offerings,” explains company president, Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen. “Bringing my family business to a critical market like the United States is a milestone for the brand, and we felt releasing American Oak was not only fitting for the occasion, but is evidence of our mission to consistently innovate while still honoring the tradition of this cherished spirit.”
American Oak is currently rolling out and will be distributed nationwide at a suggested retail price of $39.99. Also now available is Bache-Gabrielsen’s VSOP and XO from their Natur & Eleganse line, a portfolio dedicated to the ancestral methods of cognac and featuring no additives. Additional SKUs will be introduced over the coming months.
