The Cognac Augier brand was founded in 1643 by a wine merchant and is now considered the oldest Cognac house still in operation, and possibly the oldest alcohol brand in the world. In its early days, the brand played a pivotal role in rekindling interest in unfairly overlooked terroirs and grape varieties, such as the rare Folle Blanche or the understated Bois Ordinaires cru. In 2013, it was successfully revived by the renowned French group Pernod Ricard.
The centuries-old artisanal craftsmanship is evident in every drop of Cognac Augier. Traditional distillation, cold filtration, and the complete absence of additives or artificial colorings preserve the balance and aromatic complexity of these eaux-de-vie.
Cognac Augier bottles boast a charming and elegant design that brilliantly reflects the attention to detail and excellence present at every stage of crafting their cognacs. The modern rebranding of this time-honored house has been met with resounding success, capturing the hearts of Cognac connoisseurs worldwide.
Augier Le Sauvage embodies audacity in a "wild" cognac, born from traditional and natural fine lees distillation. It results from the blending of eaux-de-vie distilled from the Ugni Blanc grape variety, cultivated in the Petite Champagne region, offering a dynamic and invigorating flavor profile characterized by fruity notes of apricot, citrus, exotic fruits, and vanilla.
Le Sauvage, one of the three flagship products designed to reinvigorate the industry, each with its own personality. To ensure impeccable quality and unique aromas in its cognacs, Augier deliberately refrains from subjecting them to cold filtration before bottling. Furthermore, Augier strictly adheres to a no-additives policy in Cognac production, hence the pale gold color of Le Sauvage. This meticulous attention to detail and transparency in the production processes has earned Augier numerous accolades, including two gold medals for Le Sauvage, respectively awarded at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
