Presentation of the domain :

The Pineau François 1st, appreciated by the French and foreign connoisseurs, is marketed for the first time in February, 1934. Gaston RIVIERE, his creator, begins to put on sale only pineaux having aged in oak barrel.

The fame of its production quickly extends beyond our borders. Today, still this quality is recognized: golden medal at the International fair of La Rochelle, Excellent Grand Prix at the 24th Congress of the oenologists who judged 1100 samples of wines with High Expression; 1st place on the guide Hachette of Wines.

The factors of their success are multiple: their vines are crashed on hillsides dominating the Charente, the vineyard thus has an ideal exposure. The grape of CoLombard coming in 80 % of vines of more than 80 years old, produced a little plentiful and very fruity grape juice. It gives to their pineau a delicious flavor which belongs only to him.

For the elaboration of the pineau, their Cognac is distilled in old copper stills red which still stay among the rare to be warmed in the coal. Furthermore, the way it is developed according to a tradition which continues, remained unchanged for 60 years.

Finally their stock, very important compared to their sales, allows them to launch on the market only some Pineau aged in oak barrel of Limousin during very numerous years.

Presentation of the vintage :

Pineau very fruity and sweet taste which is found in Colombard grapes.

Not filtered to retain the flavor of the old variety.
