Old white Pineau Léonard Message

Presentation of the domain :

The wine-making exploitation of the family Léonard has started in 1941. At that time, the back grandfather Marcel Léonard had already acquired an important part of the vineyard.

It is in 1980 which starts the marketing in bottles by Jean-Pierre and Monique Léonard, now assisted by their children.

Today the family company has 42 hectares of vineyards and possesses its own wine storehouse of vignification, its distillery and its wine storehouse of storage in its domain. The cognac Léonard is completely producted by the family company by respecting the traditional rules and their ancestral values.

Presentation of the vintage :

The Pineau of the Charente is a blend of the must of grape obtained after the grape harvests and having a little fermented, with some cognac distilled previous year.

According to the legend, the Pineau was born from an accident : one day of grape harvests, a wine grower Charentais had poured some grape juice in a barrel which contained some more of cognac. And he waited for the fermentation.

As the phenomenon did not occur, he taste his product and discovered a kind of aromatic liqueur, the fruit of the good grape corrected by the liveliness of the Cognac. He had just invented the Pineau of the Charente.

Old white Pineau des Charentes Léonard Message 75 cl 17% which has aged during ten years in barrel on average.

Ideal in the aperitif,  with toasts of foie gras and caviar, spicy appetizers. Can be also served with a cheese platter as well as desserts of chocolate or with yellow and white fruits.
